Christmas 2008
Twas the night before Christmas,
and all through the house
not a creature was stirring,
not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung
by the chimney with care,
in hopes that Saint Nicholas soon would be there.
The Children were nestled
all snug in their beds,
while visions of sugarplums
danced in their heads.
Actually this is where the story takes a turn down a different road. That would be a picture of the oldest teenager in the house, trying to sleep through the morning.
This would be the Oatmeal that mom had to cook for #4 at 6:40 in the morning.
I made him wait an additional hour before waking his sisters to open presents.
Traditionally we take a picture of the kids coming down the hall to the living room to open presents... this year #4 wanted a picture on the stairs. Why not?? He was up and awake. What you don't need to know is that he is not going towards the tree, instead he is going into the daylight basement.
This Christmas morning some of us are not quite awake and one of us is ready to go. Why does morning come so early??
When you are forced to get up too early, nap time comes quickly.
Christmas in the northwest it's a gift that we can share
Christmas in the northwest is a child's answered prayer
Take away the presents, and they still will have a tree
Christmas in the northwest is a gift God wrapped in green.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland
I grew up in California, in an area where it doesn't snow, so when there is snow on the ground.... I walk.
#4 wanted to be on mom's blog, so we went for a trudge in the snow. It was not snowing when we left the house. This is our street.
If you are going for a walk in the snow, you may need some hot chocolate. We stopped at our local Starbucks.
Or you could stop at the local Starbucks inside the Fred Meyer....
Or the one across the parking lot from the last one. Take your pick. We have made it 2 miles from home now. Silly Starbucks.
It is always good to sit down to some good reading mid walk. He has found the Mad Magazines and I am having a hard time getting him to move on.
Once we are back outside, time to conquer the parking lot mountain of snow.
Little did I know I was under attack the entire time. I brought along someone to protect me and bomb the bad guys.

Our high school stadium.

The new elementary school gym.

As we left Costco we were now inside a freshly shaken snow globe.
This is a job I would not want. Pushing shopping carts through the snow and over the ice. Ugh!!

A stuck truck...
An unstuck truck... if only they could get to the freeway on the other side of that wall.
